This material is known for its excellent resistance to chemicals and fuels. In addition to this, it is also steam, mechanical, and heat resistant. The material has a high molecular weight, and a low gas permeability. This helps increase the life of the gaskets.
  3. Buna-N: This material is also sometimes referred to as nitrile rubber, acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, or NBR. Again, it is a synthetic rubber, which shows an exceptional resistance to kerosene, diesel fuel, propane, and petroleum oils. In addition to this, the material is compression set, tear, and abrasion resistant. Thus, the orifice gaskets made from this material are capable of delivering a consistent performance. Being resistant to acids and alkalis makes Buna-N an ideal material for orifice gaskets that are used in food industry.
